Enabling Technologies Battleground: Spine and Ortho
By Brandon Wade, Vice President
The enabling technology landscape in spine and ortho has ballooned in recent years with a plethora of navigation, robotic, and augmented reality technologies. Players large and smaller are trying to eke out a segment of the market. The reason? Overall adoption and procedural use of enabling tech is poised for attractive double-digit growth. While 2023 saw a flurry of acquisitions in the space, 2024 has been a year more of continued development and commercial efforts. As we look forward, we anticipate established players will continue to focus on commercial efforts while OEMs lacking technologies will pursue acquisitions again. For the smaller, pure-technology players seeking an exit, continuing to focus on innovation and differentiation will be critical. Our bet: innovations in software and wraparound eclinical solutions is where differentiation, and value, will come from.
